No matter if you are graduating in December 2026 or May 2027, please make sure you are aware of the upcoming State Bar exams (Feb 2027, July 2027) and changes to your SCU network resource account status once you have officially graduated.

Starting May 22, 2027, Santa Clara University IT will be transitioning your status from a registered SCU Law student to a SCU LAW Alumni. However, you must opt into the SCU Alumni email system to initiate the process so do this opt-in action before May 22, 2027. Most, if not all, of your SCU Network accounts (Google Workspace, MySCU email, Google Drive, Eduroam, Duo, etc.) will be degraded or disabled 90 days after of graduation. Please make sure to back up your files on Google Drive and/or Microsoft One Drive before May 23, 2026 (and certainly way before the start of your state bar exam) to avoid any issues with your data and/or being locked out of your documents.

If you have any questions on the new SCU Alumni policy, then please contact the main SCU IT service desk at 408-554-5700 or email them at techdesk@scu.edu.

Will my SCU email address still work after May 22, 2027?
Central IT will be transitioning your @scu email address to the @alumni.scu.edu email address 90 days after your graduation, but you need to opt into the SCU Alumni email system. You will need to assume that your old SCU email address may not be functioning by after July 2026. For information about alumni email, then visit SCU Alumni Email page.
Will I still be able to access my data on Google Drive after May 22, 2027?
Any accounts associated with @scu email address will be degraded or disabled 90 days after your graduation date. Please make sure you back up your data before May 22, 2027 and certainly before the start of your state bar exam. Before May 22, 2027, you will be supported by the IT Service Desk so if you have any questions, then contact them at 408-554-5700 or email them at techdesk@scu.edu. After your SCU email has been disabled (May 22, 2027) and your alumni email has been created, then you need to contact the Alumni Relations.  You can reach them at (408) 554-6800 or scualumniemail@scu.edu.
NOTE: There will be no data migrated from your registered SCU email workspace (inbox, Google Drive, etc.) to SCU Alumni email. Please plan accordingly and back up your data before May 22, 2027.
Will I be able to use WiFi like Eduroam or print on campus using SmartPrint?
Eduroam and SmartPrint unfortunately are associated with @scu email addresses and access to those network resources will be disabled 90 days after your graduation date. University IT knows that many SCU Law grads will be using campus WiFi so your SCU email and your access to Eduroam should work until the end of July. Please be aware that you may have to use SCU-Guest and SCU guest printing after May 22, 2027.
Will I be able to use Office 365 and One Drive after May 22, 2027?

Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, etc.) and One Drive are associated with @scu email addresses so access to that SCU licensed subscription will be disabled 90 days after graduation. If you plan to use Office 365 after May 23, 2026, then:

*Back up any data on your SCU old One Drive folder before May 22, 2027.

*Purchase a personal subscription of Office 365 from Microsoft.

*Use your personal email address that you used to purchase the Office 365 subscription and sign in to activate your Office 365 products.
